Unclaimed Blessings

 

 

Summary

As Christians we must never allow God’s Word to be devalued in our lives. He is the source of all of our blessings and without Him we will not experience lasting success. Therefore, it is imperative that we keep His Word alive in our hearts and coming out of our mouths at all times.

  1. We have the ability to curse or bless by the words we speak.
    1. When God spoke the blessing over mankind in the beginning, He added value to us.
      1. The Greek words for blessed are barak and eulogeo.
      2. Eulogeo means to speak well of; we associate eulogeo with the word eulogy.
    2. An example of how words are used to bless can be seen when Simeon blessed Jesus and His parents (Luke 2:25-34).
      1. God spoke His love over Jesus (Matthew 3:13-17).
      2. Likewise, speak God’s love over yourself and others.
      3. Negative words can rob us of our identity, acceptance, and confidence.
      4. Our ability to have lasting success in life will be a direct result of our connection to God’s Word.
  1. We can speak blessings over our children, grandchildren, and other family members (Genesis 49:28, 24:60, 48:8, 9).
    1. The Lord shall bless thee and keep thee (Numbers 6:22-26).
  1. Reasons to walk in the blessing.
      1. To be fruitful and multiply.
      2. To extend God’s favor to others.
